Barr Estate Winery, located in Sherwood Park, offers hand-crafted fruit wines made from family-grown raspberries and rhubarb for a flavourful, local tasting experience. Founded in 2009 by Rick and Amy Barr, this small winery grows its fruit just outside Sherwood Park on land Amy’s family has farmed for generations. Their heritage raspberry plants and rhubarb are the base for two distinctive wines: The Barb, crafted from rhubarb, and The Other Red, made from those family raspberries. The winery’s philosophy is to stay true to the fruit, using only hand-picked berries and rhubarb that are herbicide and pesticide free. As careful stewards of the land, they rely on a small herd of sheep to weed the property and follow sustainable wine-making practices, using no sorbate or sulfites in their wines.
