The Joy

Catch The Joy on four different dates at 7:00PM! How does a baby react to hearing Whitney Houston for the first time? How about Metallica, or Bach? In this funny, moving storytelling show, JUNO-nominated musician and acclaimed theatre creator Brendan McLeod recounts his newborn daughter’s reactions to the first 1000 songs of her life. In doing so, he breaks down everything from how your body processes music, to how different cultures communicate, to how James Brown learned to dance. Ultimately THE JOY is about the importance of music and family—a tribute to all the things you feel in your heart when you listen with your ears. Brendan McLeod is a Toronto-based theatre creator and musician. The author of a poetry collection, Friends Without Bodies, a novel, The Convictions of Leonard McKinley, and six theatre shows, including Ridge, his award--winning musical on the Battle of Vimy. His folk group The Fugitives have been nominated for a JUNO.
