The Dark: 24 Hours Underground

The Dark is a unique endurance race hosted by Sinister Sports in the Bellevue Underground Mine (BUM), perfect for those drawn to coal, mining history, or testing their limits in a truly unusual setting. Participants run loops inside the mine shaft, which is 250 meters long with a 1% grade, making each lap 500 meters. The shaft is about 4 meters wide for most of its length, providing ample space for four runners side by side, except near the old mine car. Racers can compete in 3-, 6-, 12-, or 24-hour categories, aiming to complete as many laps as possible within their chosen time limit. The mine maintains a steady temperature of 0–2°C year-round, offering predictable conditions no matter the season. A warming station with food is available at the entrance, and a portion of the proceeds supports the Bellevue Underground Mine. This challenging and atmospheric event is ideal for those seeking adventure in a one-of-a-kind underground setting.
