Penguin Walk at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo

Since their arrival in 2012, the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo’s penguins have become a visitor favourite! Once again this winter, you can see the king penguins outside of their habitat as they take a royal promenade through the zoo grounds. Penguin Walk, presented by WestJet Cargo, offers the king penguins an opportunity for wintery enrichment as well as additional daily exercise. Up to thirteen penguins can choose to participate in the daily march, including ‘Diana’, ‘Grace’, ‘Solomon’, ‘Cleopatra’, ‘Philippe’, ‘Henri’, ‘Napoleon’, ‘George’, ‘Boudicca’, ‘Rupert’, ‘Arthur’, ‘Alfred’ and ‘Augustus’. Penguin Walk is dependent on the birds’ desire to walk as well as the weather, but luckily for onlookers, the colony loves to walk and usually chooses to! Access to observe the March of the Penguins is included with the purchase of a Day Admission Ticket.
