Open Farm Days | Windy Rafters Barn Dance

Open Farm Days | Windy Rafters Barn Dance near Fort Macleod in the Southern Rockies offers historic farm tours that bring Alberta’s rural past to life. Set on a sixth-generation family farm homesteaded in 1905, this heritage site features preserved buildings including a 1910 workhorse barn, one-room schoolhouse, replica homestead cabin and weaving shed. Visitors hear stories of early prairie life and see how Alberta’s first farming families lived and worked. During Alberta Open Farm Days, guests can join guided historical tours, ride a hay wagon, watch blacksmith and rope-making demonstrations, play horseshoes, meet farm animals and try hands-on activities like simulated cow milking and calf roping. A gift shop and barbecue lunch round out a relaxed, family-friendly day in the country.
