National Indigenous Peoples Day | Heritage Park in Calgary offers a full day of powwow celebrations and cultural activities for an immersive family outing. Visitors can experience an authentic and traditional powwow running all day, with vibrant regalia, drumming and dancing that highlight living Indigenous cultures. At 4 pm, in partnership with the University of Calgary, the Campfire Chats event invites guests to gather, listen and learn through Indigenous music and storytelling. Beyond the special programming, the rest of the Historical Village remains open, so guests can ride the steam train, enjoy the Antique Midway, or sail on the S.S. Moyie between activities. It is an easy way to blend cultural learning with classic Heritage Park fun in one memorable visit.
