Metis History Through Music and Dance Workshop with Metis Fiddler Brianna Lizotte and Percussionist Ethan Graves

Folks of all ages are invited to join them at the Town Hall Gym for an afternoon of toe tapping and jig stepping. Passing down the history of the Métis through a musician's lens, these presenters work to form connections between participants' communities and all the communities around them. The gym doors will open at 12:30 pm. At 1:00 pm, they will begin with a welcome speech and introductions, followed by the workshop, which will run from 1:10 pm to 4:00 pm. Brianna and Ethan offer their learning music through a music and dance workshop, which is very interactive. All guests will learn a variety of traditional Metis dancing throughout the afternoon. Brianna Lizotte is a JUNO-nominated fiddler currently living in Edmonton, Alberta. She grew up in a household where music was constantly played, whether it was from home videos or kitchen parties. At the age of 10, most of the musicians in the family passed away, so she took it upon herself to keep the music alive.
