Live Music: Payadora - Award-Winning Tango Ensemble

Payadora is an award-winning chamber music ensemble based in Toronto that performs original compositions and arrangements drawing from Argentinian and Uruguayan tango and folk traditions. The ensemble combines deep tango knowledge with classical, jazz, and world music backgrounds to create distinctive performances characterized by joy, virtuosity, and passion. Payadora has performed across North America and internationally, including in Poland, Austria, Brazil, and Argentina. Domestic highlights include the National Arts Centre, Ottawa Chamberfest, St. Lawrence Centre, Harbourfront Centre, and Toronto Summer Music. Their sold-out 2023 European tour (Madrid, Copenhagen, Budapest, London) included a live-to-air BBC performance. Recent activity includes Atlantic Canada touring and Florida performances of Tango Apasionado with PointeTango Dance Company.
