Indigenous Peoples Day

Indigenous Peoples Day, in Sundre at Sundre & District Museum, offers a June celebration of Indigenous culture with live performances and hands-on learning. Visitors can explore a dedicated Métis exhibit, then listen as Otipemisiwak Battle River Territory District 3 Elders and Knowledge Keepers share stories, songs, and teachings that bring local history to life. Guests are invited to tap their toes, learn the jig, and connect with neighbours in a welcoming setting. The Stoney Nakoda further enrich the day with dancing, drumming, and song, using vibrant regalia and traditional place names to share their deep connection to the land. It is an engaging way to experience living culture and gain a deeper understanding of the region’s Indigenous heritage.
