Long before the age of ACDC, Black Sabbath and Metallica, there was the OG Head Banger - the Big Horn Ram. Join the Path Less Taken on Hike of the Head Bangers to learn about this charismatic ungulate during the season of the rut. On this 6.4 km round trip on the Foran Grade Trail, you will hike by dramatic cliffs, view rocky peaks and the stunning Sheep River. You will learn about the Bighorn Sheep and how they seasonally use the local landscape. Post-hike, there will be opportunity to visit the Big Horn Lookout. November is when the Sheep gather on this dramatic plateau that dramatically carved out by the Sheep River. You can observe the Sheep mixing, mingling and perhaps even headbutting during the rut.
