Harvest of the Past

This premier harvest festival celebrates the authentic spirit of fall in east central Alberta, bringing the traditions of the 1920s harvest season vividly to life. Held on the final day of the season at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, the event features live threshing demonstrations as volunteers recreate an old-fashioned threshing bee. Visitors can explore historic harvest practices, food preservation methods, and rural life through engaging demonstrations led by knowledgeable costumed interpreters. A delicious harvest food festival rounds out the experience, making it a feast for both the senses and the imagination. An open-air museum depicting early settlement from 1892 to 1930, the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village celebrates its 50th anniversary as a provincially owned and operated site in 2025. Guests can step back in time while exploring more than 35 restored historic buildings, including churches, schools, a grain elevator, a blacksmith shop, and farmstead homes.
