Christmas in the Coulee

Christmas in the Coulee, located at 110 Century Dr W in East Coulee in the Canadian Badlands, offers a festive light-filled holiday experience that supports local heritage. Each December, this annual event transforms the historic Atlas Coal Mine into a glowing wonderland, with more than 40,000 lights strung across the 12-acre industrial site. Visitors can savour seasonal treats, enjoy kids’ activities, meet Santa Claus, ride the train, and listen to live music under the region’s famously dark, starry skies. Across the river, the East Coulee School Museum welcomes guests by candlelight, with children’s crafts, festive snacks, and more live music. The evening creates a warm, community-focused celebration while helping preserve the area’s coal mining history. Tickets are available online starting November 1 or at the door.
