Benedict Sheehan’s ‘Ukrainian War Requiem’ — The National Tour, in Edmonton at St. Basil Ukrainian Catholic Church, offers a powerful choral tribute to Ukraine. Edmonton’s own Axios Men’s Ensemble, fresh from their historic Juno award for Classical Album of the Year (Large Ensemble), joins forces with Pro Coro Canada for this special performance. Conducted by Maestro Michael Zaugg, the choir features over 50 performers, including acclaimed international soloists who bring depth and emotion to every movement. Composed by two-time Grammy-nominated Benedict Sheehan, Ukrainian War Requiem is a 12-movement journey through grief that blends ancient chants and motifs with contemporary musical styles. The work offers a solemn space for remembrance and prayer, honouring those affected by the war and highlighting the enduring grace of the human spirit.
