42nd Annual Fort Macleod Santa Claus Parade

The community of Fort Macleod has been hosting the largest Santa Claus parade west of Toronto, and it is in its 42nd year. The parade averages 100 floats and consists of a diverse group of show bands, businesses and organizations from all over Southern Alberta. Along with Santa, there have been special participants such as live reindeer. This year's theme is "Home Alone Christmas," and they are excited to see the creativity. This parade could not happen without the support of the donors to help bring the community together to celebrate the start of the Holiday season. The parade draws between 10,000 and 12,000 spectators and lines the "Historical Main Street" in Fort Macleod. The parade tradition was started to bring the community together and support the local businesses, and bring wellness to all who attend. Community groups and businesses offer other magical activities: photos with Santa at The Fort Museum and a movie matinee at The Empress Theatre.
