Twelve Foot Davis Gravesite

In the mid-1800s, Henry Fuller Davis, known as “Twelve-Foot Davis,” struck gold on a small 12-foot claim in northern British Columbia, earning roughly $12,000. He later became a well-known fur trader along the Peace River and was remembered throughout the region for his business sense and friendly nature. Today, a monument to Twelve-Foot Davis overlooks the Peace River Valley and the Town of Peace River, serving as a scenic lookout and picnic area. The site offers sweeping views of the confluence of the Peace, Heart, and Smoky Rivers and is a favourite spot for photographing the changing seasons. Easily accessible year-round by paved road, with an entrance near the Northern Sunrise County office, the lookout is renowned for its breathtaking sunrises, sunsets, and northern lights, making it a must-see stop for visitors exploring the Peace Country.
