A short drive will take you to Morro Peak, a small mountain just 16 km away from the Jasper townsite. A trailhead off of the Yellowhead Highway begins an 8.5-km hike (round-trip) to the mountain’s summit. This isn’t an easy hike, but a stunning view of the Athabasca River and the surrounding area awaits you at the top. This is a moderately trafficked trail that’s mainly used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding, and permits leashed dogs.
