The building that houses the Didsbury Museum was constructed in 1907 as a school and was designated a Provincial Historic Site in 1997. Fondly called the "Old Red Brick School", the building was also home to the first free library in Alberta. In 1918, the school was used as a hospital during the Spanish Flu epidemic and a yard for the military troops. At more than 8,665 square feet, the Didsbury Museum is the largest museum in Mountain View County! Its gorgeous ceilings are 13 feet high! There are 16 rooms including offices and washrooms, 10 of which are complete exhibit rooms. As well as the individual rooms, the hallways are full of displays focusing on our local area heritage. Signature Exhibits include over 10,000 artifacts organized in 16 rooms!
