Martha Cohen Theatre

Martha Cohen Theatre in Calgary offers an intimate performing arts venue where every seat feels close to the stage. Tiered seating forms a three-quarter circle around the performance area, bringing audiences and performers into a shared space. Even the farthest seat is just 39 feet (12 metres) from the stage, making it easy to take in every expression, movement and note. Set in the heart of Arts Commons beside Jack Singer Concert Hall, the theatre pairs its close-up atmosphere with modern technical features. A state-of-the-art sound upgrade was completed in 2014, followed by new seats and a new lighting console in 2016. The venue honours the late Dr. Martha Cohen and was named following a $1-million donation from her husband in celebration of her birthday.
