The McLaughlin Story, 150 Years of Carriages, Cars and Canada Dry. The Reynolds-Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin, and the Remington Carriage Museum in Cardston, are featuring two different components of a major exhibition telling the story of the McLaughlin family. From humble beginnings as makers of ax handles, to becoming the largest carriage builder in the British Empire, and then becoming General Motors of Canada, this is the story of a family of risk-takers. At Reynolds-Alberta Museum: See more than 20 beautifully restored and as-found McLaughlin and McLaughlin-Buick vehicles. Learn about the incredible story of the McLaughlins and the Canadian auto industry. Test your knowledge with the trivia game, “In Pursuit of McLaughlin”. Put on the “White Gloves” and let your guide take you across the barriers for an up close and personal look at selected vehicles that have great Canadian stories. Enjoy guided tours of the Warehouse to see the rare, unusual and one-of-a-kind. Children can explore the Farm House filled with toys. Cuddle up in the indoor Drive-In and see movie clips from Heritage Minutes, National Film Board, and Hinterland Who’s Who. Check our specially designed collector postcards in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday. If you want to send them to friends, we will mail them for free!
