Each year, Slave Lake hosts the Canadian Tire Angler’s Cup on Father's Day weekend. This catch and release walleye tournament accommodates 120 fishing teams in a 2 day, total weight tournament. The tournament in one leg of the Western Canadian Walleye Trail. The tournament is one of the richest cash events in Canada with a total of $125,000 in prize money available. (*Based on a full field of 120 boats.) Proceeds from the event benefit the Lesser Slave Lake Regional Fire Service. The big change this year is that the tournament will be accepting fewer teams. Teams last year have been sent an email with registration form attached. You can download the registration form from their website. Get your registration in early to reserve your spot! You can download the Rules and Regulations as well. Registration and rules meeting will be at the slave lake curling rink June 15th. Doors will open at 4:00 p.m. for registration, food, and beverages. The curling rink is located at 301 6 Avenue SW in Slave Lake. Pre-fishing ends at 2:00 p.m. June 15th.
