Rodeos Events & Festivals

Eight seconds on the back of a bull seems quick. Unless it’s you holding on for dear life. Stay on the sidelines instead and watch the pros at one of Alberta’s rodeos. • Stampede City: The 10-day Calgary Stampede attracts the top rodeo professionals to compete in roping, riding and barrel racing for the world’s richest prizes. It’s OK if your favourite event turns out to be mutton busting. Watching five-year-olds try to stay on sheep is equal parts adorable and impressive. • Even more: Want all the bull riding and steer wrestling? Small town rodeos attract developing stars at cozier venues. Edmonton’s Canadian Finals Rodeo brings in the best athletes of the year.
