Alix Wagon Wheel Museum offers displays and exhibits including Pioneer Tools, Pioneer Kitchen, Churches; Schools, Businesses, Taxidermied Bird Collection, First Nations, Creamery, World Wars 1 & II & the Boer War; Sports, Irene Parlby Collection & History, Women of Aspenland, many historical pictures & documents. We have a library collection including school textbooks from the past, scrapbooks of Alix history, family and community histories. We have a large collection of historical documents and serve as a repository for local club and organization records, and also hold the community cemeteries' records. We are open from May to August & can host clubs or school groups with organized tours & activities. We are also open any time for special events, eg: Remembrance Day and by request. The performances begin with their Thursday Slack at 6:30pm and continue on all weekend! The Drayton Valley Pro Rodeo is held the first weekend in May(4th, 5th & 6th) at the Omniplex in Drayton Valley Alberta.2018 is the 4th year for the Canadian Professional Rodeo here in Drayton Valley. We have a rodeo performance Friday and Saturday evening at 7pm and the final performance Sunday afternoon at 1pm The Drayton Valley Pro Rodeo Society is proud to bring the very best in Rodeo Stock and Cowboys to Drayton for everyones entertainment.The committee strives to shop local and to provide other local groups with fundraising opportunities at our Rodeo.
Sept. 8, 2018- DV100 Race or Ride is a cycling race/ride through breath taking West Central, Alberta. Participants can register for 40km, 100km, 160km, team event or the corporate challenge. The race begins at the Drayton Valley Omniplex, Alberta and heads west where riders view mountainous vistas, dense forests and historic oil boom communities. There is $25,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. This race/ride is for everyone from beginner cyclists to olympians. The DV100 is an annual fundraiser for the Drayton Valley Community Foundation. After you finish your ride you can enjoy the shower amenities, a massage, the near by museum, parks, walking and hiking trails.Then you can finish the night off wth the DV100 after party with mouth watering food and live music. Tickets must be pre-purchased.
