Step into the past with your family. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in our backyard during the summer months. Watch our local artist-in-residence weave beautiful fabrics on her loom. The Rocky Museum showcases the history of the pioneers who homesteaded in this area, worked in the lumber camps and sawmills, and sent their children to one-room schoolhouses. Our exhibits include the Meadows Forestry cabin, which is one hundred years old, and the Glacier School house. Have a seat in one of the school desks, and imagine yourself travelling back in time to the days when students walked to school carrying lunch pails, and sat two to a seat on really cold days. Inside the Rocky Museum, check out the Killico General Store - no frozen pizzas sold there- and the Coles Brand boards. Take time to listen to a song on our restored player piano. Museum staff will happily demonstrate how it works. Find out about Rocky Mountain House's history and view the photos that show the damage caused to the village's Main street businesses by the cyclone (tornado) that hit here in July of 1927. Visitors will find a great place to stop and stretch their legs on their way to the West Country and the Rocky Mountains.
