For those looking for a more relaxing visit, the facility also offers a Lazy River, Family and Adult Hot Tubs, steam room and sauna.Overlooking the aquatics area is a full-sized athletics facility. The Fieldhouse provides courts and equipment for a variety of sports or fitness classes and has hosted the Alberta Special Olympics. Racquetball and Squash courts can be found to the East of the Fieldhouse and a four-lane, 175-metre track can be found on the third floor. The second floor hosts a large weight room, cardio equipment with flat screens and multipurpose rooms that offer space for fitness classes and community groups.Barrier Free DesignThe broad range of equipment ensures multi-generational access to the entire facility. The facility is also completely barrier free.
MacDonald Island Park continues to evolve as a location for one of Canada's premier recreation experiences. Included in that evolution is the newly opened Shell Place that includes SMS Equipment Stadium (sport and performance stadium), a Baseball Stadium, a badminton centre, indoor turf field house, and conference spaces. The Aquatic Centre features five water slides, lazy river, spray park, Olympic-sized swimming pool and two hot tubs.
