Farms & Markets Food, Shopping & Relaxation

Fresh Alberta carrots are as good as candy. If a modest root vegetable can be that delicious, imagine what’s possible from the rest of Alberta’s farms, orchards and ranches. ● Grocery list: Local must-tries include grass-fed beef, heritage pork, sourdough bread, anything rhubarb, and even the humble beet, onion and potato. ● Markets: On Saturdays, 130 vendors fill up Edmonton’s Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market. If they can make it, bake it or grow it, they sell it. ● DIY: Time it right and you can pick your own Saskatoon berries straight from the farm. The small purple berries are magic in a pie or straight off the branch.
