Red Deer Arts Council is a non-profit organization supporting visual, literary, performing arts and arts organizations in Red Deer. Our vision - to be a leader in a dynamic community that celebrates the arts. Our mission - to make Red Deer a better community by stimulating, developing, and promoting the arts through education, advocacy, and programming. We operate the Kiwanis Gallery at Red Deer Public Library (4818 49 Street, Red Deer). Rotating eclectic exhibits features artists working in all media and subject matter, from landscapes to abstracts to 3D. Gallery openings are on the first Friday every month. We also offer on alternate First Friday Red Deer, when the visual artist has had an exhibit opening, either a performance (dance, comics, music) or a literary reading featuring our wonderful, talented local folk. A great date night for everyone. Most galleries around the downtown core are open as well. Check our website to see the changing exhibits and performances. Free event.
Visit the place where Red Deer began. The Fort marks the place where First Nations and Metis people, along with European settlers, came together at the only place to safely cross the Red Deer River in the 1870s. We are open from the May long weekend until Thanksgiving in October. Come for a picnic, a program, an event, or to get your hands dirty in our heritage garden. Please call 403-346-2010 during the off-season and we'll be happy to help you out.
