Peace River Wildland Provincial Park, located about two hours north of Grande Prairie, is a pristine protected parkland and important wildlife corridor for elk, deer and bears. In summer, paddle, power boat and fish on the river. Walk, mountain bike and horseback ride on marked trails, or venture into the backcountry. Skijoring, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing and snowmobiling are popular activities in winter. Backcountry camping is allowed year round in the park.
