In October, the Whyte Museum Archives and Special Collections Library will host an exciting special event offering duplicate copies of books, pamphlets, and postcards to the community. Over 1,100 duplicate books were carefully processed throughout the year from numerous donations. Some are copies of books from Catharine Robb Whyte, Ben Gadd and Jimmy Simpson's libraries, many of which have been signed! They are offering this opportunity to purchase extra copies from their library collection to help address ongoing collection space restraints. The proceeds from the sale will support ongoing collection development, maintenance and preservation of the collections. As many of these books were initially donated by locals over the past 55 years, they want to ensure they give the community an opportunity to add these books to their own personal libraries. Before opening to the general public, we will offer this material to select institutions as a priority, followed by a pre-sale to the members and donors, and opening to the general community thereafter. There will be a limited quantity of publications available, sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit the webpage for more information.
