Golfing Summer Outdoor Activities

Imagine a golf course surrounded by towering mountains and meandering past glacier-fed lakes where elk, caribou, or bears are regular visitors on the back nine. It exists in Alberta. The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge golf course is continually ranked one of the best in the world. But it’s just one of many amazing choices, with more than 250 spread around the province. You can tee off in some of the most surreal surroundings on the planet – from the Canadian Rockies to the Canadian Badlands. And if you’re a die-hard duffer, endless twilight in high summer up north means hitting the links until close to midnight.

The 2nd Annual Big Gap Wagon Trek & Trail Ride is an opportunity to get off the beaten path and explore twelve plus miles of scenic bliss by horseback. You will learn the history of how the Neutral and Nose Hills got their name and if you are lucky you will be wiping juice off of your chin after picking Saskatoon’s off the bush when you pass by them. A lunch break will happen half way and while your horse is having a well-earned rest you will be able to have a rest too and watch the clouds go by, visit with your co-riders or explore on your own. All good things do not have to end. Upon returning to camp and getting your horse looked after its time to experience some Western Heritage such as butter churning, Bannock tasting and make sure to cast your vote in the 'Best Tasting Jam' contest. It is one sweet contest! It wouldn't be a Western Heritage event without an Alberta beef supper. Savor the taste as the beef melts in your mouth. Pit in for a night of socializing with the locals and listening to some good ol' country music. Camping available at the Gooseberry Lake Provincial Park campground or at the Gooseberry Lake Rodeo Grounds. Bring your golf clubs!
