Small-town rodeos: Excitement in a small-town setting

Throughout the spring and summer there are 40 small town rodeos going on around Alberta. These are the best places in the world to see people look danger in the eye, then proceed to strap themselves onto danger and ride it for eight seconds while encouraging an even higher level of said danger during the longest eight seconds ever recorded.

As we pull into the Innisfail Rodeo in central Alberta, we find no assigned seats, no paved parking and no security guards keeping us from the livestock or cowboys. The play-by-play man banters with the locals in the crowd and the crowd, mostly locals, holler good naturedly back.
