Edmonton is one of Canada’s top shopping destinations with an amazing array of options – from department stores and mega malls to high fashion boutiques and artisan shops. But even with all the venues to choose from in the city, I always enjoy seeking out hidden treasures and unique shopping experiences beyond the city limits.

Shop in St. Albert’s Arts and Heritage District

First up is St. Albert’s arts and heritage district, Perron. After a quick stop at La Crema Caffé for a cappuccino and a cherry turnover, I’m ready to get my shop on. Buying distinct, Canadian-made products always feels good and the locally made jewellery and glass blown art at Modern Eyes make for great gifts. The Bookstore on Perron is another little gem where I often uncover interesting finds.

Culinary Tools and Spices in Spruce Grove

I love to cook and with over 100 spices, the Mad Platter Bistro in Spruce Grove is a seasoning superstore. Of course I skilfully plan this visit around lunchtime for the restaurant’s home-cooked fare. After restocking my spice pantry, I usually pop in to Gifts and Gadgets to peruse their vast selection of cookware. Raggs to Riches is another one of my favourite spots for vintage teacups and glassware.

Country-Style Arts and Crafts in Leduc

The family-owned, It’s a Crock Country Store in Leduc is where I shop for country-style furnishings and holiday décor. In the summer we always make it a family affair, as the kids can’t get enough of the ice cream at the store’s creamery stand. My younger daughter is obsessed with designing handmade cards for all of her friends. To fuel her arts and crafts hobby, we pick up supplies at Scribbler’s N’ Such.

Stroll down Main Street in Camrose

Main Street in downtown Camrose is great for shopping and strolling. Fiona’s Coffee and Gifts sells beautiful tea sets and amazing desserts. My daughters think that Twig Designs next door is the place to shop for clothes and funky high-tech accessories. On the other hand, I still reminisce about when they were toddlers and wish that the posh baby store, From Kicks to Kids was around back then.

Shop from Head to Toe in Sherwood Park

When I need a new outfit, my go-to boutique is in Sherwood Park. Revolution Boutique always hits the mark with their premium denim labels, their leggings, tops and dresses. And since every outfit needs a fabulous pair of heels, I’ll pick up a pair from their outstanding selection of my favourite brands. My job here is done.
