Flying Cross Ranch is a full service riding stable in Lacombe Alberta. Roy & Christina Sturgeon started Flying Cross Ranch in 2013 after seeing the need for a place for people new to horses to learn about them and enjoy them. Flying Cross Ranch is not just about riding lessons, it is a place where people can come to build meaningful relationships and a sense of community. It is a place for you to feel a sense of belonging, a place for family, where healing happens, and life skills are learned, where joy is experienced, where health returns and the stress of the world disappears. We are so excited that you have decided to allow us to join you in your journey with horses!
Enjoy a fun guided horseback ride featuring beautiful, well cared for horses. You will be able to easily mount the horse at our step up mounting station and swing your leg over and into a comfortable western saddle. Your ride will be with a guide and is usually in a group of 3 to 6 riders. If it's your first time riding, no worries! We can assist you, by leading the horse either while we are mounted on our horse or as we walk along beside the horse you ride. Suitable for ages 6 years and up.
Look down. Way down. The Beaver River Trestle, at one kilometer long and 60 metres high, is a highlight of the Iron Horse Trail. It is accessible from Cold Lake via three km of the multi-use Trail. Or you can drive to the west end by turning north off Highway 28 at the Y Road and parking at the trail access point. The 300 km Iron Horse Trail connects many of the area’s natural gems and tourist attractions. ATVers use the Iron Horse Trail to access countless kilometres of backcountry trails and cutlines that weave through the region’s rugged terrain.
