Look down. Way down. The Beaver River Trestle, at one kilometer long and 60 metres high, is a highlight of the Iron Horse Trail. It is accessible from Cold Lake via three km of the multi-use Trail. Or you can drive to the west end by turning north off Highway 28 at the Y Road and parking at the trail access point. The 300 km Iron Horse Trail connects many of the area’s natural gems and tourist attractions. ATVers use the Iron Horse Trail to access countless kilometres of backcountry trails and cutlines that weave through the region’s rugged terrain.
Located just 3 km north of Raymond sits a world class motocross and dirt bike facility, Temple Hill Motorcycle Park. The park is host to many events throughout the year including the Western Canadian Amateur Championships. The park caters to competitive and recreational pursuits by offering, race track, a quad park, freestyle ramp and a BMX track. Sept. 8, 2018- DV100 Race or Ride is a cycling race/ride through breath taking West Central, Alberta. Participants can register for 40km, 100km, 160km, team event or the corporate challenge. The race begins at the Drayton Valley Omniplex, Alberta and heads west where riders view mountainous vistas, dense forests and historic oil boom communities. There is $25,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. This race/ride is for everyone from beginner cyclists to olympians. The DV100 is an annual fundraiser for the Drayton Valley Community Foundation. After you finish your ride you can enjoy the shower amenities, a massage, the near by museum, parks, walking and hiking trails.Then you can finish the night off wth the DV100 after party with mouth watering food and live music. Tickets must be pre-purchased.
Mountain bikers from across the country will compete for the XCO Canadian Championship title. The race weekend will feature mountain bike races for all ages and riders including; a 3 stage enduro race, the XCO Championship event, an Alberta Cup, the XCO Championship relay, and a Trailblazers youth race.
