Welcome to the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth! The Calgary Stampede is an annual, 10-day rodeo, exhibition and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta. It attracts over one million visitors per year and features one of the world's largest rodeos, a parade, midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon racing and First Nations exhibitions. Experience your inner cowboy/cowgirl while exploring the backcountry of the majestic Canadian Rockies! After 94 years of leading beginners and seasoned riders from all over the world into the spectacular backcountry, The Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies (TRCR) know how to give you a dream vacation… and that “hidden gem” you been looking for? Well,...you just found it! The TRCR is a not-for-profit club of enthusiasts who enjoy taking new guests out to explore these majestic mountains with the comforts of home, and will host six, six-day professionally guided trail rides this summer. The breathtaking beauty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains awakens the adventurist in all of us of what many believe is the most beautiful scenery in the world. This "walk in the park" is like no other you will ever experience. Unlike most backcountry horseback trips, the Trail Riders set up a main base camp and, at the end of each day on the trail, return for "happy hour," a hot home cooked dinner, and some much-needed shut-eye in the cozy tents and Indian-style teepees complete with cots and mattresses. The rustic wilderness camp has a hot shower, hot washing water, separate washing areas for cowboys and cowgirls, and a large dining tent for their 4-star meals. Expect the evening to include any combination of: camp fire singing, cowboy poetry, square dancing, story telling, educational talks, skits and live western music! If you can stand a week of this fun and frivolity, you will become a member of this historic and western cultural society. Horse experience is not essential as this is a "dude operation" and over 50% of the riders are +50, and 70% are women! Put it this way; if there ever was a quintessential, "bucket-list" Western Canadian trip, this is it! Check out their 5-star ratings with Trip Advisor and testimonial videos on their homepage. This year the TRCR celebrates 95 years of history and western cowboy culture in the Canadian Rockies. The TRCR (since 1923) is “Canada's original trail ride.....”
