Rainbow Valley Campground
Escape to the campground in the middle of the City: Rainbow Valley Campground in Edmonton. Since the mid-sixties, Rainbow Valley Campground has been wrapped around the Whitemud Creek at the south end of Whitemud Park. It is part of the larger River Valley Park system in Edmonton and the only campground within City limits. You can walk for 45 minutes in either direction and occasionally see signs of city life along the natural trails that follow the meandering creek. There are over 70 unique sites, half with power, the other half have without services (tenting) and all in the midst of mature pine, elm and poplar trees. Check in and other amenities such as firewood and refreshments are available at the Rainbow Valley Chalet building. There are also laundry facilities, free showers, a playground, outdoor cook houses, and a Sani-dump station. Rainbow Valley Campground offers special ‘camper’ discounts to Trip Advisor’s number 1 outdoor attraction in Edmonton: Snow Valley Aerial Park. A high ropes, aerial trekking tower that is full of family fun. Anyone 1m (39 inches) or taller can challenge the tower for up to 3 hours, as high as 15m or 50 feet above the valley floor. Shopping is close by too, with Southgate Mall, South Park Shopping Centre and South Edmonton Common within five to ten minutes driving. West Edmonton Mall is just 20 minutes west on the Whitemud Freeway.
