Explore the history of High River and Southern Alberta at the former CPR station (built in 1912) located in downtown High River. We warmly welcome visitors to our museum where they are invited to enjoy fascinating exhibits, research our extensive archival and photographic collections, take part in special events and programs or just relax. Children can play in our interactive hands-on Imagination Station. Exhibits featured in the summer of 2017 are: On Location: Film in the Foothills. Explore the history of film making and watching in Southern Alberta. More than 150 films and television series have been shot on location in this area. How many have you seen? One of the more recent is the popular CBC television series "Heartland", and the exhibit features Heartland props, costumes, photos and more; Celebrating Canada's Centennial - 1967; Forts and traders - the Highwood area in 1867; W.O. Mitchell - Folksy Foothills Philosopher. The Museum of the Highwood is also the location of High River's Visitor Information Centre, where our representatives will happily help plan your trip and provide you with up-to-date information and recommendations on what to do within the town and the surrounding area.
