Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing

The east central region is home to the Iron Horse Trail, which has many staging areas for backcountry skiing.

You’ll also find good snowshoeing areas around many of the lakes in this region. Try Jessie Lake in Bonnyville, or the Millennium Trail and Palm Springs Golf Course in Cold Lake.

In the west, enjoy 24 kilometres of groomed cross country ski trails at Edson’s Silver Summit. You can also take advantage of their full service lodge, cafeteria and hostel.

Check out the City of Red Deer for a full list of ski and snowshoe trails, or head out of town to the Bighorn Wildland Recreation Area near Rocky Mountain House.
